Every time you purchase a portrait you're not only feeding an artist your helping fulfill a dream! (See picture and article below) ARTIST COUPLE LEAVES LASTING LEGACY TO DAUGHTERA British Columbia couple's art will forever cheer up your patients at the Hotel Dieu Hospital. Sharla and Pat Clermont, of Nanaimo BC, spent the week painting a bright mural in the pediatrics ward at the hotel Dieu, as a lasting memory to their daughter, Tauxva, who was lost to cancer in 1998. Spending many hours at their daughter's side in a hospital setting the couple wanted to decorate the plain walls to make it warmer, less institutional. "There was only so much reading or watching television we could do at the hospital." Pat said. "We wanted to paint something colorful and special for our daughter." Months later, after Tauxva died, the couple wanted to keep her spirit alive by painting more murals. With a lot of positive feedback from the staff at the Nanaimo hospital, they decided to paint 26 murals across Canada, dedicating each one to Tauxva. Pat explained each mural is painted with an alphabet theme, hence the decision to paint 26. the mural in Cornwall is the fourth, and all the art is painted in relation to the letter "D". With dolphins, doughnuts, dogs and daisies the colorful mural is a welcome addition to the pediatrics ward, said Karen Lauzon, patients care coordinator at the hospital. "It's colorful and the art speaks to the children." Lauzon said. The whole project too the couple a week to complete. Pat grew up in Cornwall, so it was important to the couple that they include a city hospital in their project.
