Worldwide, over 400 million tons of metal is recycled each year. A steel mill using recycled scraps reduces linked water and air pollution, and mining wastes by about 70%.
Almost all metals, can be recycled back into quality metal. In the USA last year 36 billion aluminum cans went into land fill. A value of more than $600 million.
Recycled raw materials, including metals, cuts CO2 emissions by some 200 million tons every year. More than 50% of a new aluminum can is made from recycled aluminum.
Recycling one aluminum can, saves enough energy to run a TV set for three hours. Each household uses approximately 600 steel cans per year.
